successfully found our web site and maybe you've even looked around a bit. I hope you are excited by what you've seen so far. I know I am very excited to meet you and get to know you and your fantastic communications and math skills!
I'll tell you a bit about me. I grew up in the tiny and beautiful town of Lockeport here in Nova Scotia. I am a musician and I spend a lot of my free time writing and performing songs. I like to do stuff outdoors like hiking and kayaking; slow, non-life threatening sports for me. I really love travelling and hope to do more in the coming years. I have two teenage boys and I have 5-10 books on the go at any given time. I have been involved in adult education for 20 years now (yes, I'm THAT old...) and I have done just about everything a person can do who works in this field (teaching, writing, researching, administration, program development, training... you get the idea). I've done other types of jobs, but teaching adults and working together to create and grow is WAY better than anything else I've worked at. This year, in addition to Academic and ACC Comm, I am teaching Level 3 and Graduate Math so I'm getting to use both sides of my brain every day (always a good thing). Most of the day, you'll find me in Room C315, so swing by any time (especially when it's your scheduled class, nudge, nudge).
I have a challenging course of study prepared for you. I have expectations for you and you should also have expectations for me and this whole program you've entered. I have built in lots of options for you and I want to work with you -- collaborate -- to construct courses that make you want to put lots of energy and brain power into them. Trust me, school is much more fun when you are excited and motivated by what you're doing. Let's MAKE it that way!
